Certification

Certification is the mark of a dedicated professional, and CAPPO encourages all current members to achieve purchasing certification. Certification is a personal and professional investment of tremendous value to the buyer and their employer. CAPPO's educational programs help members work toward the most widely recognized professional certification programs available.

CERTIFICATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM (CPPB, CPPO, CPSD, CPSM or NIGP-CPP)*

CAPPO has a long history of supporting and encouraging members to obtain certification in the purchasing field. To further entice our current and active members to achieve this valuable goal, CAPPO has instituted a Certification Incentive Program. For each recognized certification a current member achieves, they may receive $100. The certification must have been obtained no more than six months prior to submitting the application and a copy of the certificate must accompany the application. The applicant must be a current member in good standing at the time of submission.   Application

The Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC) Examinations measure professional competence and the understanding of the body of knowledge surrounding public procurement. Certified individuals are issued a certificate attesting that they have met the standards of the credentialing organization and are entitled to make the public aware of their credentialed status, through the use of initials after their name and in all forms of address. The UPPCC offers the CPPB and CPPO designations. Obtaining a Certified Professional Buyer (CPPB) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) designation demonstrates a standard of competency in the public.

NIGP’s Certified Procurement Professional designation (NIGP-CPP) is integrated within NIGP’s Pathways program featuring competency development within 33 constantly expanding learning modules; the certification program complements NIGP’s research program providing assurances that the NIGP-CPP remains relevant to the competencies, you need to be a successful leader in your career – today and into the future.

ISM launched the Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM®) program in May 2008. The CPSM® is the credential that surpasses the demands of the international marketplace with multi-faceted skills in areas such as supplier relationship management, commodity management, risk and compliance issues and social responsibility.

ISM’s  Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity® (CPSD®) certification is one of the few that exists in this growing and much-needed specialization area of supply management. With a CPSD®, you’ll be the expert to identify the opportunities and challenges that arise to make intelligent supplier diversity decisions. As a CPSD®, you’ll be the guiding hand with the knowledge and training to show an organization how supplier diversity can both meet requirements and improve the bottom line.

* Should you hold a purchasing certification that is not mentioned above and wish to be considered for the program, please reach out to admin@cappo.org. All other eligibility requirements and documents still apply.
