CAPPO Board of Directors Proclaims March Procurement Month

CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OFFICIALS BOARD OF DIRECTORS PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, contracting and procurement professionals play a vital role in the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of government; and WHEREAS, the California Association of Public Procurement Officials is celebrating 108 years of dedication to providing members with educational opportunities and guidance on best practices in public procurement, and steadfastly promoting professionalism and high ethical standards in the practice of public procurement; and WHEREAS, in addition to the purchase of goods and services, the public procurement professional adds value to public agencies throughout the state of California by performing such functions as developing procurement strategies, cultivating collaborative relationships with the business community and others within their organization, consulting on best practices, identifying opportunities for savings, maintaining compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and assisting with development and /or administration of contracts; and WHEREAS, these public procurement professionals recognize, support and practice the public procurement values and guiding principles of accountability, ethics, impartiality, professionalism, service, and transparency as fundamental tenets of their profession; and WHEREAS, National Procurement Month provides the opportunity to further educate the general public, elected officials, and vendors regarding the impact of public procurement, and celebrate the contributions of those individuals dedicated to the public procurement profession; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC PROCUREMENT OFFICIALS, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2023 to be Procurement Month.
