The National Procurement Institute (NPI) and the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO) congratulate the 46 California agencies who received the 2019 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) Award!

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® Program was founded in 1995 by the National Procurement Institute to recognize excellence in public procurement and to encourage the continued pursuit of excellence. This annual program recognizes procurement organizations that embrace

Innovation, Professionalism, Productivity, Leadership and e-Procurement that result in excellence.

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the program and will feature a special edition silver trophy.

I encourage all CAPPO member agencies to apply for this year’s award and to promote their success. Not only does the AEP provide a great roadmap to procurement excellence, it also communicates to your governing body, administrators, customers, constituents and vendor community that your procurement team is recognized for utilizing best practices in public procurement.

For 2020 I have issued a challenge to all California agencies to have more successful applications than the state of Texas. In 2019 we fell short by two recipients. Let’s show Texas that the AEP is bigger and better in California!

You can start your application now by visiting The application due date is May 15th. Don’t delay, start today!
