This is a reporting of our association’s annual conference held in January 2019 in Sacramento. I wish to thank everyone who was in attendance. The conference committee put a lot of extra time and effort into putting on the best possible conference. A huge thanks to my conference chair, Hugh Smith, C.P.M., Past President and retired CAPPO Business Officer. Hugh told me he’d get it done! He did. Thank you. Another huge thanks for the folks who volunteered to put on the Sacramento event … the Conference Committee. Words are not enough to express my gratitude for your efforts. Each day of the conference I received positive feedback from attendees.
Historically, CAPPO has developed conference budgets with intent of covering costs and breaking even. The Sacramento budget had a surplus when originally developed in 2017. It was revised in September 2018 as we had actuals coming in which helped with forecasting. The conference wound up with a small surplus, netting about $36,800. The event itself wound up around $23,000 in the black. CAPPO earned room night rebates from the hotels that totaled just over $13,000.
